The concept of "Mama's Got A Brand New Bag" was born out of the personal desire of two single mothers who want to make the world a better place. Together, Maggie Caldwell and Rhonda Herring developed the concept of a "designer purse auction" from their love of purses, jewelry, shoes, anything girly, as well as the desire to lend their time and talents to benefit the local community. Both Maggie and Rhonda have served various organizations and continue to devote their time to help others.

Anna Wyatt
Anna, also known as “Annabeth,” was born in Natchez and moved to Vicksburg with her family at age 2. She grew up in the river city of Vicksburg with her parents, Winky and Debbie Freeman, and her younger sister, Lana Claire. Anna attended First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, and also attended Vicksburg High School where she was a cheerleader and served as Senior Class President. After high school, she continued a family tradition started by her grandparents, Bill and Mary Smith in 1949, by attending the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, Anna was very active on campus serving in a number of different offices including president of her sorority, associated student body senate and presidential cabinet, student programming board chairmen committee, and assistant editor of the Alumni Review magazine. In 2000, Anna was elected Ole Miss Homecoming Queen. After graduating from Ole Miss with a B.A. in Journalism and emphasis in Public Relations, Anna secured a broadcast internship at WTVA, Inc. in Tupelo. After completing this internship, she was hired at WTVA/WLOV/WKDH as the WLOV 9:00 News Anchor. Anna served as anchor/reporter/producer for WTVA Television for 5 years. During her time at the tv station, Anna anchored and produced a variety of newscasts and did live reports for all three affiliates. Anna received an award from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Operation Lifesaver Organization for her work on a train safety media piece that ran on WTVA. Her media story was used across the nation at Operation Lifesaver safety training workshops. Since August, 2010, Anna has been the City of Tupelo’s Communications Director. She is the city’s first, ever Communications Director. Anna keeps the line of communication open between city hall/mayor’s office and the media, as well as the public. One unique element that Anna has brought to this new position is the use of social media as an outlet for our city and local government to provide information to the public and make sure everything done is transparent for all to see. She sends out daily media alert emails; created and keeps a City of Tupelo Facebook page updated; and, uses Twitter to get out messages from the Mayor’s office and on behalf of the city. Right now she is working on a city website project which involves having the city’s website completely revamped for the first time in a decade. The new website will be launched at the end of September. In addition to setting up city press conferences, Anna also works closely with all of the city departments and the Mayor’s Task Forces. She has been instrumental in helping coordinate and organize community events like: Mayor’s Marathon, Read Tupelo, Fitness in Tupelo, Neighborhood Connections Day, Trim Down Tone Up Tupelo, and Tupelo Gives Back. Since moving to Tupelo 5 years ago, Anna has enjoyed volunteering in our community through the Tupelo Women’s Club, Tupelo Young Professionals, United Way, March of Dimes, St. Jude Dream Home Telethon, Regional Rehabilitation Telethon, Big Brother Big Sisters Bowling Chairman, Christian Women Job Corps Volunteer teacher, Salvation Army “bell ringer,” and Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag event. Anna just celebrated her 2nd wedding anniversary with her wonderful husband, Matt Wyatt. Matt is a former MSU quarterback, so the two enjoy cheering for Ole Miss and MSU! Anna and Matt are active members of First Baptist Church and live happily in Tupelo with their two miniature schnauzers Champ and Lady.
